Innovation (06) Final Review

The final review of this semester's Innovation Studio will be held on December 17 at RISD's Bayard Ewing Building from 9 am to 6 pm. This semester the studio is critiquing New York City's energy plan, and proposing to develop community-based, non-profit power companies for the 5 boroughs. We will look at projects sited in the Greenpoint and Queens Area around Newtown Creek.

Innovation Studio (5) in Watershed Journal

An article entitled "Nature and Industry" is included in issue #2 of Watershed Journal. The issue examines the imitation of nature, and the article discusses the use of ecological thinking in the development of an eco-industrial park for Rhode Island's Central Landfill (A project undertaken by Innovation 5).

Roberta Wright (Innovation 05) joined the "Finding Purpose" as one of
three designers and finalists in Metropolis' "Next Generation" design competition to discuss their proposals, their overall purpose, and what's next in design, technology, and their careers.

Alex Bettisworth (Innovation 06), Roberta Wright (Innovation 05) and Joe Haskett (Innovation 03) participated in a follow up panel "Next Generation" to discuss the future of design, and "the impact that young people with these aspirations and goals might have on the future of our profession and address existing "roadblocks" and issues of diversity, economics, and professional myopia."
